Salem, OR - The Oregon State Chamber of Commerce (OSCC) honored Lisa Farquharson, President and CEO of The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, as the 2019 Chamber Executive of the Year. The award was presented at the Annual Conference held October 15-16th at the Boulder Falls Inn in Lebanon, OR.

Farquharson (pictured right) is a recognized leader who puts the needs of the business community at the forefront. When she first took over as CEO of the chamber, membership was declining and those leaving did not view the chamber as a good investment. Thanks to her hard work, dedication and passion, Farquharson has transformed the chamber into a growing, respected and service-oriented resource for the community.

Farquharson has served the community for more than seven years, engaging at all levels within the community. From business to the local community college, city council, government affairs, economic development, and tourism, she has proven herself time and again as a strong partner. She was recently tasked by the Mayor to develop a Tourism Advisory Committee to capitalize on tourism in the area now and into the future.

To be considered for the OSCC Executive of the Year award, candidates must be nominated by their board and must have held a CEO/Executive Director position for at least 5 years.  Criteria for this honor is based on personal character, management excellence, community relations and leadership.

OSCC supports and represents Oregon’s local business community by serving as its advocate on business issues and by strengthening local Chambers of Commerce, promoting a healthy business climate in Oregon.
